Candle Making

Guest Artist: Katie Ellis

Space and mood are essential parts of making time for ourselves. In this Gather, we explore scent and light as an anchor for atmosphere. You will play with essential oil blends, selecting notes that evoke memory, stillness, or warmth, before hand-pouring your own custom candle. Through the act of making an object so easily bought, used, and forgotten; you’ll discover how simple raw materials can transform everyday rituals into meaningful personalized moments.

Katie Ellis

Ceramic Artist

Katie is a maker, host, and lover of gathering people around all things creative. From hosting events at Neighbor, a nonprofit creative space in Chelsea, to teaching her own candle-making and ceramics classes, Katie’s practice is rooted in a simple belief that creativity is always more fun together.

Whether it’s making a set of ceramic dishes for the next dinner party or christening a special plate for a solo night in, Katie is drawn to our everyday rituals that make a home (and life) as meaningful as possible. Working in the home goods space in a city like New York, where space is almost always limited, she embraces the idea that we might own less, but cherish more: making things that are worth using, keeping, and giving a little more shelf space to.
