Sketchy Etch A Sketch
Etch A Sketch. Do they still make those things? Why, yes! They do! And yes, it is possible to draw more than a staircase!
In our current culture of instant gratification, here is an artform which tests patience, perseverance, and the ability to find brilliance through chaos. You have to go with the ebb and flow, and nothing can be too precious. In this Gather, we will embrace our inner playfulness, explore the imperfect journey of the line, and fight through the natural tendency to reject tasks that initially seem “impossible,” as we create unique art with the classic Etch A Sketch. We’ll discuss basic techniques of contour art and how these elements are achieved on an Etch A Sketch. We will also brainstorm ways of preserving and sharing this unique artform which is fleeting by nature.
